June 29, 2009 - Baby Belly

Okay. Today it happened. I put on some a pair of pants that I wore just last week and they were too tight in one certain area. I went out and bought a Be-Band from Target. They are these amazing stretchy spandex panels that help extend the life of your regular pants. I can unbutton my pants and they will stay up with the band. It is actually quite comfortable. I am definitely not able to keep up maternity pants at this point, so this will help out until I can. I don’t know if everyone else can see my belly, but I can!!

AND…one more thing about today…it is exactly 6 months until my due date of December 29th!

June 28, 2009 - Mom's birthday

Happy Birthday Mom!! We threw a party at State Farm Park for my Mom today to celebrate her big day. We could only invite a certain number of people and mostly just family. It was great to see everyone! I decorated two cakes for Mom and will hopefully post a picture of them soon. I guess I can tell everyone…she turned 50 today!!

June 26, 2009 - Ashley's birthday

Ashley’s birthday is today!! We went to Gils with both families and ate a great meal. It is the best fried chicken you can get at a restaurant. It was great as usual! We can take any visitors to try this food. It is out in the country all by itself and most everything is deep fried. They also have good corn fritters.

June 24, 2009 - The Test!

Joe brought home a gender predicting test called Intelligender. He really wants to find out if our baby is a girl or a boy. I was nervous to take the test because I didn’t want to get attached to a certain gender and then it turns out wrong. The test says it is only 82% accurate. The curious part of me decided to go ahead and take the test.

First of all, the test comes with three items: an empty cup, a syringe, and a covered cup with crystals. Weird. Joe even commented that it sounds like a science experiment…I guess it technically is. The test even started to fizz up when I mixed everything with the crystals. The test said to wait 10 minutes and the results could be skewed if you check it too early or too late.

After the experiment was completed, we just shut the door and waited the 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES!!!!! We finally walked in to find out the result. It said girl! Joe did some checking throughout the day and found out that if the test reads boy then it is 95% accurate and it is only 70% accurate if it reads girl. So, after all this we still don’t know what it is. Probably a good chance of girl, but who knows. I guess we will have to wait another 5 weeks for the doctor to tell us

June 14, 2009 - Officially 12 Weeks

I can’t believe we are past our first trimester of pregnancy. Everyone still asks me if I am feeling okay. I never had morning sickness during the first trimester so I hope that is a good sign for the rest of the pregnancy.

Today is also the day my cousin Kelsie got married to Story Simpson. I am sad I forgot my camera or I would have lots of pictures to show. It was an outside wedding at the gardens in the Indianapolis Zoo. The reception was in the Union Station and was absolutely beautiful.

June 10, 2009 - Baby's First Picture

We have pictures! Joe and I couldn’t wait to see a picture of our little baby. The monitor was so clear and you could see the baby move. The baby jumped to the opposite side so the doctor had to move around to get it. He mentioned several times that our baby was very active. I was surprised by how much the baby moved. It just kept curling up and then straightening out its legs. The baby’s hands were just waving around the whole time. I just can’t wait to find out if it is a boy or a girl. The doctor said the baby is growing very well and the size is within a day of how far along I thought I was. My due date is still December 29th, 2009. A Christmas baby!!!

We also went to dinner with Joe’s parents to celebrate his birthday at Monical’s Pizza. We showed off our first baby picture to Joe’s family. He got another gift card to Outback and thankfully a few others to different eating spots in Bloomington.

June 9, 2009 - Joe's Birthday

We ate dinner at my parent’s house tonight to celebrate his birthday. He got a lot of gift cards to guess where…Outback! I am sure they will be put to good use.

June 7, 2009 - One Year Anniversary

Joe and I celebrated one year of marriage today. We drove home from Chicago and then went to Outback…surprise, surprise! It is Joe’s favorite place to eat for all those who don’t already know. We also picked out a couple golf clubs for Joe’s birthday in a couple days. It is my present to him, but there was no way I was picking them out by myself to make it a surprise.

June 6, 2009 - Brandon and Ashlea's Wedding

My cousin Brandon got married today to Ashlea. It was an outside wedding at the Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet, IL. Very beautiful! The reception was inside the mansion right after the wedding. I wish I took pictures of the actual wedding ceremony, but I was not in a good spot for picture taking.

May 26, 2009 - We heard the heartbeat!

Joe and I went to the doctor’s office to hear the heartbeat. She couldn’t find it at first, but then all the sudden we heard it. It was a very exciting time and definitely made us feel more connected to what was growing inside of me. Joe can do an impression of the heartbeat. I knew it would be fast, but I didn’t realize how fast it would be.

May 1, 2009 - Our First House

We signed papers for our first house today! It was very exciting and I felt so much like an adult. We bought new family room furniture. We re-carpeted the first floor on May 23rd and ordered new furniture for the living room. We still have some decorating to do upstairs. The whole month was busy with moving and splitting time between two houses. We will post pictures once we get new furniture and decorate more…and then when I actually take the pictures…lol!

April 27, 2009 - Telling Joe's parents

We decided to tell Joe’s parents today so both of our parent’s would know. I went to Sears and got swatches of paint in light blue, light pink, and light yellow (Joe’s idea). We were purchasing a house on May 1st, so it made sense for us to ask opinions on colors. We followed them to their house after eating dinner at Lindsey and Joe’s house. I walked up to Carol with the three swatches and asked her what color we should paint the spare bedroom upstairs. She looked down several times and looked at us, but didn’t understand what we were trying to tell her. I finally said why would we paint any bedroom pink, blue, or yellow. Then she understood and gave us a hug. Larry said he got it right away. Later Carol said she was trying to think of a nice way to tell us that the colors would not look good in our house…of course that was before we were having a baby.

April 23, 2009 - We're officially pregnant!

Mom and I went to the doctor today to confirm that I was pregnant and do all the early check-up stuff. Our doctor is Dr. Nord and everyone in his office is really helpful and nice. It was nice to get the confirmation from the doctor’s office that I was pregnant. My due date is December 29, 2009!

April 20, 2009 - We're Pregnant!

We found out at 7:00 in the morning that we were going to have a baby. Joe and I were really excited and talked about when we would spread the word. We decided to keep it a secret until Mother’s Day.

Around 1:00, Mom and I went on a walk for my lunch break. We were almost all the way through the walk when Mom turned to me and asked if I were pregnant yet. She joked about it several times and knew we thought about trying to have a baby. I was completely shocked by her question and unprepared with a clever answer. She then stopped and looked at me again and said that I was glowing. I am not a good liar and she could tell from the look on my face that I was pregnant. So…now Mom knows. I had to give Dad a call because I knew she doesn’t keep secrets from him. He was very excited and both of my parents couldn’t wait to be grandparents!
